TBIN is Recognised as a Research Institute

The Traumatic Brain Injury Network (TBIN) has officially changed its name to the Brain Health Research Institute (BHRI). This change is in recognition of our growth and achievements over the years and will enable us to achieve even more going forwards.

Help us with our concussion research

We are currently running a study looking at whether we can use a simple blood test to detect concussion and track recovery. To do this we need both people who have had a recent concussion and those who have not (controls). This will enable us to see what the levels of different brain proteins are in the blood of uninjured people by ethnicity so we can then compare this to people who have been concussed over time. To find out more please click here or email brain@aut.ac.nz

Improving recovery for traumatic brain injuries

Nearly 1/3 of people have experienced at least one traumatic brain injury by age 25. Almost half go on to experience long-term problems. We aim to support better health and wellbeing for people with TBI by uniting people, services and research to discover how to optimise recovery.
